What is peer listening?
The RHS Peer Listening Program is a mental health advocacy and outreach group for students in the Rockford High School. Our main focus is on the students of RHS. We show our dedication to the student body through encounters in which students are able to talk with a Peer Listener during the school day in a confidential setting. We also focus on reaching out to other students and members of the community. One of our main events for outreach are the Developing Health Kids presentations that we help to plan and promote throughout the year. These presentations help break the stigma around mental health and discuss a variety of topics like drug abuse, mental illness, and the pressures of high school. These forums are widely respected and attended.
